Yeah it's weird, Del Bosque picks him all the time, so did Aragones and Spain havent conceded a goal in the knockout stages of a Euro's or World Cup since 2006, he must be doing something right. Once he plays for us he's be world class mate, that's it. He's playing in a **** league, with **** players like Ronaldo & Bale. He'll never make it.

He gets sent off about 5 times a season and is at fault for so many goals. I watch Spanish football every week. Sure he fell over the ball last week and cost Madrid the game. He's a defensive liability and not a ****ing chance in hell of him getting the balon dor. Do like his commitment though.

Yet he's been picked as first choice for over a decade (including Sevilla) by multiple different managers at club level and is always selected for Spanish squads. So, if Capello, Caro, Luxemburgo, Aragones, Del Bosque, Ramos, Pellegrini, Mourinho, Schuster and Joaquin Caparros all can't see what you see, I'm not sure what you're seeing. He's a leader, physically very good and great in the air. Most defenders have howlers (imagine if someone made a compilation of Carra's **** ups - it's be a good 20 minutes or so). He plays almost every minute, stands up in the big moments and has won almost every competition.

Played 120 minutes so he can't not have been. Absolutely one of the best players I've ever seen,but Messi is better IMO,just not this season.

But he once made a mistake against Celta Vigo!

He's class. Does his defending but also as you see in that second half he was going forward, belting in crosses, trying to make stuff happen while Benzema and co sulked around the pitch. He's a great leader like you say and player. If he fancies a change after completing his missions in Spain....Brendan should get on the phone.
