A lot of people on this site have said the same, but it's not living in the past though is it mate. We're looking at a class player who still has a few good years left in him and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Snapping Rush up on a free would be living in the past.

By all accounts he is doing quite well at struggling Almeria. The two styles may be different but nonetheless signing hughes would still be another who would then jump ahead of suso in the pecking order.
Speak some sense Corndog me mucca.

With Suso, Coutinho and Alberto all in the squad, i'm not sure how much we need Hughes.
The times they are a changin'.

I think Suso is more in the advanced role where as Hughes could play in the sitting 2 midfield area

Thats where I see him too. We're definitely looking for players to play in that position and it appears that we're looking for very mobile players as well. Two players there with Hendo's work-rate would generate a lot of ball possession and be incredibly frustrating for any team playing us.

Also think Hughes has the ability to get forward. But he is technically very gifted. Moves the ball on quickly and spots a pass early. I can actually see Allen probably being moved on and Hughes being brought in

              i'm in

prob buy hughes in jan, and loan him back. bring him into the fold as we clear out allens locker at the end of the season.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Why would you think that when he hasn't had a proper chance since injury?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

with the players we have brought in, and the development of a few of our kids on loan the squad has improved. with the purchase of will hughes it seems clear that anyone we are looking to bring in will need to improve the group.
we then need to look around and assess who is just not going to get a game through either not being good enough or having been surpassed by the new purchases.
i think allen will probably go. it might be hard for rodgers to make the break but he must be brave.

Fair enough, but I'd say it's a bit early to call.

Are we talking about 'first few games' Allen or 'my arm can fall off at any time' Allen?

I just think with Allen, he was signed by Rodgers as with Borini when we had no scouting team etc. He had to go with people he trusted. At the time Henderson wasn't pulling up any trees, we didn't have Coutinho, so you kind of saw a position for him.

He played well in the first few months of the season then had his injuries. With our interest in Will Hughes, Henderson having developed into a player that should start almost every game in the middle and Coutinho taking No.10, just can't see where Allen is going to get a game.

I think Rodgers still really, really rates Allen and I very much doubt if he'll be looking to offload him any time soon. Even with our scouting team in place I still think he would have been one of Rodgers first choices.

I think without a doubt Rodgers still rates him. I'm not slating Allen either. I think in his first couple of months he showed he can be a really good player for us.

But there is a huge desire to sign Hughes within the club. Rodgers has had him watched loads. Him coming in, overloads us in central midfield. There might be a requirement to reduce numbers if that happens

Does it though? If he signs next year, then surely he'd be seen as a replacement for Stevie, in which case we'd need to keep as many experienced players as possible to help him settle.

Fair point really. Think most reliable papers say we won't move for him in January unless another club does
