I'd prefer to leave this transfer til summer and address more urgent problems in January.

its true to say that will hughes isnt what we need right now, and he wont really add to what we have for this year but players like him dont come around that often.
i think we definitely need to snap him up while we are in pole position to tie him down. if he then gets loaned back as part of the deal then its no massive loss. he will be signed on a 5 year plus contract so will will have his best years.
im sure [hope] the money will be available if some top quality players are available in january to help us regain CL qualification.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

would be best scenario get him but still have the money to buy whom ever we wanted... to come in and help our starting 11.

The rest you can see just by watching him play, I can't overemphasise how mature I think his game is already. Nothing is a sure thing in football and £12m is sure a lot of money for an 18yr old, but I really think he is the real deal in a major way.

It's just a case of where football is at the moment and has been for a long time. If we pushed the boat out and had bought Walcott back in the day no-one would be complaining about the fee paid now. If it works out, he's a bargain. If he doesn't he's just another on a long list of expensive failures. The thing with Will Hughes is, he already looks good (with potential to develop) in a position that we need to fill long term. If we have indeed agreed to sign him, I for one am really happy.Akloppalypse Now !

So to sum up...
All of us who have seen him, no matter how briefly have been impressed..
The vast majority of us agree we need more option in midfield...
But if we only have a limited amount to spend we'd all be uncomfortable pressing the 'buy' button if it were up to us.
At least if it gets sorted we can all be excited.Vive la France

think that sums it up.
If we have substantial funds to spend and we can buy Hughes for the future and comfortably afford other quality players that will effect us in the now and help us push towards a champs league spot this season... then brilliant i'm all for it.
I don't think it's a bad thing to be a wee bit skeptical or cautious about exorbitantly priced, young English footballers.... as their ability is usually blown epically out of proportion. Aswell as that, it really depends on what we have to spend & who is available in the January window.. which is notoriously difficult.
Liverpool have spent so much money on players that haven't delivered or that are really taking their time to deliver. IMO we cannot afford to play a waiting game as this season it looks like one of the best opportunities in a long time for us to break back into the top 4. The longer you spend outside of the top 4 , the harder it is to break back in. Any quality player players that are currently in the side will look to leave.. and rightly so.
IMO buying the right players in the January window is absolutely crucial, as our challengers have better squads & will certainly look to strength in January too.Last edited by danperkins; 19-11-13, 04:03 PM.
