    European Super League(s)

The top clubs, and the richest clubs, in Europe are currently working on plans to create a super league, or super league(s), in Europe to replace the CL/EL. It will instead be replaced by 3 divisions, the meeting with the proposal to UEFA took place in spring, accoring to a Danish football magazine. If to become reality it would replace the current formats from 2018, and not sure how it would fit in to domestic league action?

There would be promotion/relegation from the divisions btw.

The divisions if they were created today:

    1. division:
    FC Barcelona
    Real Madrid
    Chelsea
    Manchester United
    Manchester City
    AC Milan
    Juventus
    Paris Saint-Germain
    Bayern München
    Borussia Dortmund
    FC Porto
    Shakhtar Donetsk
    Zenit St. Petersborg
    Ajax
    Galatasaray
    Olympiakos

    2. division:
    Inter
    Napoli
    Olympique Marseille
    Lille
    Atletico Madrid
    Celtic
    Schalke 04
    CSKA Moskva
    Tottenham Hotspur
    Arsenal
    Dynamo Kiev
    Sporting Lissabon
    Benfica
    PSV Eindhoven
    Anderlecht
    VfB Stuttgart

    3. division:
    AS Roma
    Olympique Lyon
    Twente
    Valencia
    Bayer Leverkusen
    Fenerbahce
    Spartak Moskva
    Legia Warszawa
    FC København
    FC Basel
    Red Bull Salzburg
    Steaua Bukarest
    APOEL Nicosia
    Viktoria Plzen
    Røde Stjerne Beograd
    Maccabi Haifa

What do you guys think of that proposal?

jesus look at that division 3

i'd assume then - that there would have to be a domestic league and then some sort of play off to get into division 3?

At least we might get to win the english again tho

It sounds like it would make the Prem less competitive as the teams would be focused on winning the Euro games. It also sounds **** for fans who cant travel to away games.

Edit: Also why are Zenit, Gala, Olympiakos and Ajax rated better than Arsenal, Inter and teams like that?

That is assuming that the leagues work on a Promotion/Relegation format.

Celtic in the second tier shows the idea to be flawed.

I assume it would turn more to like American sports where away fans is not really a thing, you watch the home games - that's it.

I think that have to do with having a spread across the continent rather than just putting teams from the 4 biggest leagues together. Sorta like the CL today tries to do a bit.

It has been bandied around for some time now. I think it's inevitable along with the famous match 39.

The divide between professional football and the elite is going to become huge.

Ignoring the source. This gets banded about every 2-3 years when the Champions League TV deals come up for renewal.

Probably within the next 10 years, in fact I'm pretty confident we'll see it before then.
