    Friday Night Football

I have always wondered why the PL didn't take advantage of Friday nights, by showing one of the Saturday arvo games on a Friday night?

Showing 4 or 5 games at once means people can only properly tune into one game, so surely it would mean more money for the FA while we as viewers get the opportunity to watch more football games on another day, especially when there aren't any others on.

The French league and German league seem to always have at least one game on a Friday night so its not an unheard of idea.

    So why not?

Nobody wants to watch football on a Friday night do they? It's the one night off from it, unless you support a team in a lesser league.
    Oh I don't know.

What time would a Friday Night game start at? If it started at 7 I would have thought that it would give people time to do things after?

Although, considering how much time some fans spend travelling to stadiums it would probably hurt crowds.

I figure the viewership on TV would be greatly boosted as there is only one game on, so people with nothing to do would have a game to watch which would probably normally get very low viewership when kick off is on at the same time as 4 other games.

It's bad enough with the the Saturday evening kick offs. I'd much rather be enjoying myself in loads of other ways than spending time watching a match, and therefore ruining other people's night too.
          Oh I don't know.

              Tranmere pioneered Friday Night Football.

Anyway - **** football on a Friday night, its on every other day. Let's have one day off from it, ffs. Its everywhere. Football should be banned on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. There are enough games, it should never, ever infiltrate into a Friday ****ing night. Football. **** right off.

We have a night off from it - Thursday. **** day for it. Its not midweek, its not weekend. Its wankarama. Monday and Thursday are crap nights for games.

I like the concept of Friday being a PL free zone though. Would be decent to see some local derbies from lower leagues featured. Shouldn't hurt attendances as people can still get their after work. Shorter trips won't put away fans off, and can get home before silly o clock in the morning. Plus of course lower league clubs get some tv money
                  Football without Origi is nothing

Friday night football would be great. They should play at 10pm so I can watch it on the Saturday morning.

Just because there is no getting away from it.

It doesn't matter if you don't watch it, it would be all over everything in the media the day after anyway.

Football already takes over the vast majority of the week, lets just leave it where it is, we don't need any more.

If Liverpool are playing and it's on tv this you simply can't not watch it. So that ****s up the night for anyone I'm with who's not interested.

And then you have pub TVs. Most pubs show the games so you can't escape it when you're out. Who'd want Wigan V West Brom on tv in a pub on a Friday night?

                        It's a horrible idea.
                        Oh I don't know.

Friday night football would be a disaster, the number of people travelling home from work etc makes it tough and like everyone else has mentioned having one day a week off the football is a good thing.

I've actually quite enjoyed not having the obligation of watching regular midweek games this season. It's enabled me to get on with the rest of my life. And that's most definitely a good thing.
