Beautiful Games: ciggie-pack footy kits – in pictures
At first glance these look like legitimate designs for European football kits from the 1990s, but in fact they're cigarette packets torn and folded to look like the real deal. They're the handiwork of the internationally-renowned British artist Leo Fitzmaurice, who first noticed the resemblance between the lids of cigarette packets and sports jerseys more than a decade ago. Fitzmaurice's work centres on observations of everyday objects – as he puts it 'things so common that they are often completely overlooked'. He describes this particular series, which is called Post Match, as being more like a subconscious pub activity than a fine-art project, but the results are really outstanding
Puncheon charged by the FA fir "failing to act in the best interest of the game" for Twitter comments on Warnock. The same FA who did **** all when several bookmakers reported vastly abnormal sums of money being bet on non league football games.
Not sure they know what best inrerest is but surely highlighting shady characters like Warnock and Redknapp is good?
IRELAND COULD FACE England in an international friendly in Dublin next year.
Earlier this month, FAI chief executive John Delaney said he was “hopeful” of agreeing a match between the teams in March 2015 and, after the nations were kept apart in Sunday’s Euro 2016 qualification draw, it looks likely to get the green light.
Speaking at an AUL event in Dublin last night, Delaney confirmed that the friendly will take place at the Aviva Stadium next year but didn’t reveal a date.
The sides met for the first time since 1995 at Wembley last May when a Shane Long header earned Ireland a 1-1 draw while next year marks the 20th anniversary of the infamous Lansdowne Road riots.
