Think Mourinho has found the balance between attack and defence. Doing well without a top quality striker. Think we could do with a Matic type midfielder. With our attackers we could still win games comfortably

chelsea managed to get city to play their game. city surrendered their usual approach and played into chelsea's hands. i wonder though how chelea managed to do that. that said, stoke used to do that to many other teams too

on a sidenote, i'm happy we didn't buy that boy willian. he looks careless and seemingly without effort, like he just wants to kick the ball about in the park for a bit. one of those who looks like he could do much of if he tried.

Great performance by Chelsea. Matic is absolutely class.

Brilliant wasn't he. Majestic performance. Really shows up what we lack in there - someone with power and athleticism, and best of all someone who can play.

I think these days we'd need someone with more to their all around game than Mascherano tbh; very annoying to see quite how good Matic was last night.

Do Chelsea even play with a DM?! Not exactly sure I'd class Matic and Ramires as one. Just two box to box central midfielders for me. Chelsea aren't even playing with an out and out full back in their correct position. Ivanovic is still a centre back who is comfortable at FB and Azpilicueta is a right back playing left back!

Chelsea are just a fundamentally more solid team than we are but lacking a real cutting edge up top. We could have added another midfielder and full back and we would still have nowhere near that level of resistance. Not sure Brenno ever really wants to emulate their style of play either no matter how effective it can be.

Maybe but Masher was mobile enough to cover the caps left by attacking fullbacks too, so they had more licence to "gallop" forward & add extra dimensions to the attack. It would also give Stevie & Hendo more freedom to "rampage" forward too.

I'd prefer a better rounded player to be honest someone able to transition defence to attack as well as dictating the play which I don't think Masch was particularly good at.

Class player for us for a time but it worked well with the players we had around him (Alonso et al)

Hmm spose. Maybe I'm just taking the short-term view what with our defence being so wank and teams walking through our CM like it's not there.
