This transfer window is absolutely insane, some of the fees paid out for total **** is astounding. £11m for the soon to 29 year old championship striker Ross mccormack and now £12m for the championship quality striker Shane long who runs around a lot but ends up producing the square route of **** all

Puts our fees for Lovren, Lallana, Moreno, Can and Markovic into context though. McCormack went for more than Can and similar to Moreno.

I was bored so I've worked out net transfer spend so far this window:

Man United = £120m
Arsenal = £45m
Liverpool = £35m
Everton = £35m
Man City = £28.5m
Spurs = £3m
Chelsea = -£4.7m

You have to say Chelsea have done great there although they are still a bit short up front and if they get an injury that could really hurt them.

Appalling from Man United so far.

Everton also taking a major gamble as I’ve said, some of that money would have been better spent reducing their debt. They are chasing a Champions League dream that’s just never going to happen. Idiots.

Aston Villa have announced the signing of the French defender Aly Cissokho from Valencia, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old left-back, who spent last season on loan at Liverpool, has agreed a four-year deal with Paul Lambert’s side.

Cissokho, who has won one cap for France, joined Liverpool last August but made only 15 league appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side before returning to Valencia.

The full-back moved to the Spanish club from Lyon in 2012 and he has also played for Porto, Vitória Setúbal and Gueugnon, where he began his senior career.

Cissokho joins Kieran Richardson, Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos, other arrivals at Villa Park this summer.


Villa are really building a team for the future.
