£70m for Suarez would mean over a 5 year contract he's earning just shy of £500,000 a week or is my Math gone to pot.

Fair enough I went for the most simplistic route. Also known as the wrong one.

          Edit:

And using the same logic it puts Di Maria at.

          £190.4 total cost.
          £59.6 transfer

          =£503,000 p/w

The figures may have originally been in euro and then whoever put the article together just slapped a pound symbol in where the euro one had been.

African Nations Cup is on, but he's one of few top forwards who would be available for the Champions League.

Ideal for City or Chelsea. Not suited to us.

Another day, another big name linked with Man United.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Spanish international Sergio Ramos to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils continue to be linked with a mega-money move for Gareth Bale, but a move for his Madrid team-mate Ramos is a more likely occurrence according to The Express.

Bale has been the subject of serious interest from United, who were first keen on signing him from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013, though yesterday club president Florentino Perez that the Welsh international is not available.

"Bale is not for sale and we will never listen to any offers for him. I cannot imagine Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo, nor Gareth Bale," he said. "This is a unique player who has already given us a lot and is crucial to the future of the club."

Van Gaal has been linked with a number of defenders after a catalogue of injuries and 28 year-old Ramos could be on the radar.

The versatile defender has played more than 300 games for Madrid since joining for €27m as a teenager from Seville in 2005 and The Express says United are willing to offer Ramos €105,000 a week deal to join the Premier League club.

The PR machine at that club is phenomenal how many names have they had linked over the years.

Arsenal have spent the last three months trailing James McCarthy as Arsene Wenger contemplates a move for the Everton midfielder.

The Gunners boss has delegated responsibility to his scouting team to forensically examine McCarthy's performances, sending different members of his scouting staff to Everton's matches since the start of October.

They had also planned to watch McCarthy play for Ireland against Scotland in the Euro 2016 qualifier in November before altering their plans when he was ruled out of that game with a hamstring injury.

They have watched him again since then and will now decide whether to approach the Merseysiders with a bid in this transfer window.

After joining Everton from Wigan Athletic in a £13million move last season, McCarthy has seen his value soar to the point where Everton are likely to demand a £25million fee for his services, a figure Arsenal would be reluctant to pay.

However, with Inter Milan and Manchester United also tentatively linked to the 24-year-old, Everton know they are in a sellers' market.

For his part, McCarthy - on comparatively low wages in Premier League terms - is likely to negotiate a new contract if no move transpires.

The highest earners at Everton can command £70,000-a-week, considerably more than what McCarthy earns yet when speculation increased last September that he was angling for a new deal, Roberto Martinez downplayed that situation.

"James already has a very long-term contract," said Martinez. "So I don't know where the talk is coming from.

"He arrived at the club 13 months ago, his contract is long-term and the ambition of everyone is to see him at Everton for many, many years."

Would be a useful player for Arsenal. Hopefully they do not get him, and then continue to play Wilshire once he is fit again.
