Looks like the grass will struggle to get sunlight around the sides especially in one of the photos which will lead to a piss poor surface to play on down the flanks.

Difficult to tell from a pic though.

Presumably architects hired at great expense wouldn't have overlooked that. Unless the site has constraints I know nothing about.

Closest I ever got to the bridge was crawling past Stadium Street in **** traffic on a Sunday trying to get back home. I used to hate trying to get back into London.

The top half of the roof seems to be not solid but made of fins just to alleviate this issue
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

              Batman

Whole section of the roof that overhangs the pitch is clear in between the beams, they'll get more light than most stadia imo.

Would be awesome if they made it out of timber.

It'll probably be included in publicity shots of London that go around the world showing off the City, along with things like the Gherkin, recognizable buildings and the like, that sort of stuff, clever really.

Given the following, I'd love to know what this'll cost:

                  - the complexity of site, including expansion over two live railways
                  - completely flattening the site including the old stadium, hotel and other buildings
                  - appointing one of the most iconic architectural firms on the planet to design the stadium
                  - the materials used to clad this won't be your conventional football stadium cladding. It looks expensive
                  - loss of income while they are away from Stamford Bridge. Where will they go? Crystal Palace? They will also have to pay rent while away. A build like this could take 3 seasons.

It looks like a massive vanity project to me. And a neat way of getting round FFP as capital expenditure is excluded. Throw money at the stadium, and get the stadium to make more money as result.
                  Oh I don't know.

There was talk of them renting Wembley for a couple of years.

Yep, but Spurs look likely, and it's not possible for them to share apparently.

Things might have changed then, as I am sure I read that the FA were fine with them sharing the ground.

The FA are desperate for cash, so yes.

Spurs want exclusivity apparently though. Typical Levy really. But quite funny too if Chelsea can't find a suitable ground.

Fair play to them in getting H & DM on board - brilliant architects - love the all work they did/are doing at Tate Modern

I think using the traditional yellow London brick to ground it is a brilliant idea

I'm starting to quite like the brutality of it & have to admit its certainly unique & not another cookie cutter Emirates

                            Fooking Chav *******s....
