There are some renders of it that do the design no favours at all.

I'm quite intrigued by it myself. It will be constructed from these towering columns constructed from London yellow brick, which is what the houses are made of in that part of the world. The towers remind me of the Berlin Olympic stadium, but brick clad rather than foreboding granite. The columns will also be arched internally, in a nod to the Underground stations in that area such as Fulham Broadway, but more overtly, Gloucester Road.

The shape is geometric without being symmetrical.

Interesting also that they will be building over two live railways lines (something that has impeded Old Trafford's expension). Highly complex and highly expensive.

Amazing what can be done when money is no object and you have an owner who wants to invest to improve the club rather to make a profit.

That is my beef with FSG right now. They can afford to fund the expansion of the Anfield Road End now from club revenues. They just don't want to because they want it it be self funding in its own right so as not affect the existing cash cow. That won't happen.

London brick is really not a thing of beauty.

Maybe they should use something rustic like down in deepest Dorset. Ham stone is it called? Something like that.

Quite like that, its a bit different and will definitely fit with the rest of the area well.

I always think when people take against a stadium, its more to do with the hatred of that team than the design.

Hmm, while it's not a thing of beauty as such, I do like that it's quite different than most stadiums. It will defo give them something unique on the stadium front.
