I can't see how it can successfully knit together when it is constantly pulled apart and reattached. Surely it will cut up quite badly when wet?

There is that, but most modern football pitches are desso surfaces these days, with added artificial fibres stitched in to keep everything knitted together.

Add also the weird micro-climates you get in stadiums, and it sounds like a potential recipe for a mudbath.

Very impressive, but isn't there a lot that can go wrong? Pitch quality, mechanics etc.? This must add a lot of $ on the finished stadium, can it be cost effective?

Exactly what I was thinking - so many potential points of failure in that design.
