I suppose the obvious favourites would be Messi and Ronaldo but who do we think could be the other contenders? Luis could well do it if Uruguay go far. Maybe Costa for Spain?

Id have a little punt on Lukaku. Strong Belgian side, and he scored pretty much 1 in 2 for Everton.
Probably be Luis, Messi or Ronaldo though.

I doubt Messi will take it, have looked of for a while and doesn't quite perform as well at the national team.
Usually the top scorer is someone having a stormer in the group stage and looking at the groups I'd say likely candidates are:
- Higuain - fairly easy group and a good goalscorer. Also top scorer in the SA qualifier. And Argentina are likely to have 2 more games at least.
- Lukaku is a good shot because of the group as well
- Nyemar or Hulk could take it, have a group that is fairly open as well and will likely go far afterwards.
- Benzema even if France is not at their best, playing against Ecuador and Honduras can give some easy goals. Switzerland doesn't concede much, so that is against.
- Teófilo Gutiérrez as an outsider. Colombia are very good, but lacks the most prolific striker but that could open up chances for others in the team. But against Greece and Ivory Coast, it's far from certain that it will be a free scoring group.
- Müller should be in there, but not necessarily an easy group to score a lot of goals in. Portugal a decent side, Ghana is pretty good at the back and the USA is always a question mark to me.
All in all my money is on Higuain
