I'm pretty happy about this, £4m is not bad business and it's a great story for the lad. Can't wait to see him in a Liverpool shirt.

Yeah. Welcome and all that. Pure backup of course, but at a relatively small outlay and in the right setup he could be very effective.

We know he can score in the PL, he's cheap, and his love of the club will mean he'll work his arse off despite practically living on the bench.

There's nothing to lose on this one.

I just don't think he's going to get much game time and there's no-one out there better priced or better motivated under the circumstances.

Much better than paying 20m and 100k a week on a player who'll lose desire.

I think this is a very clever signing.

He'll be happy to sit on the bench and in some games (e.g. Chelski) we need a plan B when the other team have setup well enough to stop us from playing our game.

He'll put the work in and isn't just a Carroll-esque player. He can play too.

Nobody (apart from Lambert himself) will be doing cartwheels but I think it's a great bit of business.

Aspas and Alberto were both bought as backup and both cost more. A good deal for us and he'll bring more to the team when he plays than either of them did. Plus the manager won't be loathe to actually put him on the pitch like he was with those two!
