I think it's purely down to versatility for the reason that Rodgers is going for Lallana over Fabregas.

Cesc can play in an attacking midfield position, and as a striker. Cesc doesn't navigate the wide areas, so, unless we were to make a splurge on a marquee signing, I don't see it happening, although I'd be jizzing myself raw if it did. Imagine Gerrard, Fabregas and Suarez in the spine of your team.

If Chelsea get Costa and Cesc they will be much stronger next season.

Got to hope they flog Hazard to PSG now.

Yeah that is what generally happens when you sign good players

            Cesc Fabregas

I think we're in for him. Goals from midfield, can cover the forward spots, no need for Borini then, and get Lallana in or one of Kono/Shaqiri.

            Bobs yer uncle.

Wasn't Cesc quite complimentary about us when he was at Arsenal? Kind of like Henry was. I'll tried and find the quotes.

You'd think so wouldn't you. He's got a good 5-7 years left in him, he's total class, he knows the league, he offers us something that we lack (goals and creativity from midfield) and he's been part of winning teams.

Its a no brainer for the money being spoke of. 30m for Fabregas or 25+ for Lallana (as much as i like him). Its unfathomable to think that we're not even considering having a try for Cesc.

Put him in that midfield trio or at the tip of the diamond and teams would be absolutely ****ting it.

@ianherbs Hearing similar. As well as past run-ins with Mourinho there's concern Fabregas slows play down & wants too much time on the ball

Which is fair enough I guess. Chelsea's game plan is to hoof the ball on the counter as fast as possible so they don't want someone in midfield putting their foot on it. He also can't play the attacking midfield/centre back role that they employ in midfield.

                        Just as I predicted

He loves speedy counter attacking athletes, not skillful tippa tappa creative types like Fabregas or Mata.

So he apparently only wants to move to the Premier League.

                            Chelsea aren't interested.
                            City aren't interested.
                            Arsenal aren't interested.
Man Utd were interested, but don't seem to be now.

Surely if we are after him we'd be his only realistic choice?

I know it's probably not going to happen, but how often to you get a free run at signing a player of his calibre?

Contrary to rumour, Liverpool have not made an offer for Cesc Fabregas.
