    Nostalgia

I loves me some World Cup nostalgia. Memories are pretty vivid for me during USA 94, despite England not being there I remember all the hype around Ireland and them eventually losing 2-0 to Holland.

    Stoichkov

France 98 I remember Owen and Beckham breaking into the International Scene, I can remember like it was yesterday what I was doing when Owen scored against Argentina

I have a certain nostalgia for earlier tournaments, but its obviously something I've not experienced. I vaguely remember Italia 90, but I think I was about 5 so it kind of just passed me by. Only thing I can pull out of my brain for that is everyone sitting around watching the Semi Final. I remember who was there sort of, but nothing about the game.

Anyway, enough on me. Lay some memories on me

Mexico 86, those goal nets blew my mind. At the time we had nothing like them in this country. I remember watching all the England games, Linekars hatrick against Poland. The first and only sticker book I completed. That Brazilian right back banging one in past Pat Jennings. The cheating scumbag handballing against us and the majestic second goal he got. Good times.

Getting to the pub at 7am to watch England v Nigeria in 2002, having a fryup and a few pints is one of my best memories from when I was younger. Cant belive that was 12 years ago!

Remember 94 well - had just finished 6th form & was about to go to uni. Was an amazing summer weather-wise & my mate stopped round mine for about 2 weeks playing footy in the back garden & getting stoned. Then we went interrailing for a month, was amazing.

As far as the WC was concered, Romario was the star really, but I also remember Carlos Valderama & his huge afro & Stoichkov & Letchkov battering Germany & Hagi being ace for Romania too.

98 I'd just finished uni & was off travelling with an ex & a mate. I watched every single minute of every game for both these WCs - 98 was the Ronaldo one when there was strange stuff going on with him in the final.

Espana'82 was the first one i can remember.

That Brasil team....best team I have ever seen still and my first real football memory (yes, even before LFC!!).....the names.....Zico, Eder, Socrates, Falcao, Junior, Cerezo....the way they played and the goals they scored just made me fall in love with Brasilian football.

Yeah, WCs are a really good but scary measure of time passing. It freaks me out that the last Olympics were 2 years ago already FFS!

Italia 90 was superb for me given it was our first finals. We were utterly **** but still it was great being involved. EURO 88 was brilliant too. The whole country was buzzing for those two. The others didn't seem as epic.
