Well you're entitled to call it what you like, but you'd be wrong.

Going to bed at like 6.30pm in 1986 so I could get back up at 10 or 11, whenever the games kicked off. Lineker's strapping on his wrist, Wilkins getting sent off for chucking the ball at the ref....all that stuff. 1986 was amazing. Denmark, Maradona, Laudrup, JOSIMAR

remember 94, but not much apart from the final and the penalty shootout..probably the only time i've supported the italians in my life

98 was ace...great football and what a team france had then and for euro 2000, just amazing.

'02 as it was the first time we've qualified although it ended in a bit of a disaster still my fav though

I was still at school for the 2002 world cup!

I remember a group of about 7 or 8 of us snuck into one of the science prep rooms with the big TV on wheels that they used to wheel out for documentary recorded from bbc2 at 2-5 o clock in morning.

Watched England when they got beat by Brazil on it, each one of us taking turns to check the door. Awesome.

You can tell posters' ages when you go through this thread.

I started becoming 'aware' of football in the late eighties and listened to our games on the wireless. Italia '90 was the first live football I saw on the TV and I would watch as many games as possible before running out to the park to replicate the goals and celebs. I used to walk out with my Liverpool kit on, but a tracksuit top on too, so I could take it off just before kick-off.

France '98 was the first World Cup I could tie in with all day drinking sessions and would watch amongst a crowd, so the atmosphere went up a notch.

Forgot about the big TVs on wheels they had at schools.

86 I was away with my parents in the Dales in the cottage the next door neighbours owned. Remember Josimar & Socrates.

Also remember there being the world's biggest stag beetle in the sink at one point. Freaky ****er.

USA 94 - Baggio singlehandedly taking us to the final, getting injured in the semi but being forced to play 120 minutes in searing heat. Gutted that he's only seemingly remembered for that pelanty miss.

Had to watch that game surrounded by the usual plastic Brazilians too which made it worse.

Italia 90 sticks in my mind as well but only because I fell head over heels in love with a girl in the year above me at school.
