'82 is the first one I remember watching, when I was 10.

'86 is one I still think about. Wilkins getting sent off and Bryan Robson dislocating his shoulder.

Getting bollocked by my mum every morning for sitting up to watch the games, in my room, falling asleep with the telly on. She was convinced the telly was going to start a fire and burn the house down.

Not exactly world cup related but that deserves another watch I think.

1982 that Brazilian team was just pure magic. The best and most exciting team I've ever seen. Should've won it but blew it defensively against Italy in an incredible game.

82 & 86 World Cups were the best.

That Brasil team....best team I have ever seen still and my first real football memory (yes, even before LFC!!).....the names.....Zico, Eder, Socrates, Falcao, Junior, Cerezo....the way they played and the goals they scored just made me fall in love with Brasilian football.
Without doubt the best team in my lifetime not to have won the World Cup, pity they couldn't stop Rossi!!

Strange that the awful 94 side won but the sublime 82 side didn't.

1986 is on the periphery with Maradona and Gary Linekars pot on his arm.

1990 is the one I watched the most of and although it is classed as a poor one for football I ****ing loved it. Coca cola footballs, Roger Milla, Gazza crying, Platt's goal vs Belgium, the deflection off Paul Parkers fat arse and penalty heartbreak - all set to the World in Motion tune.

1994 Romario & Baggio. Maradona going nuts vs Greece

1998 Owen. The Adidas Curse! (Zidane / Del piero / Beckham)

2002 Final year of Uni. Ronaldo. Early morning wake ups and watching most of the games in my boxers & duvet. Avoiding the TV license guy when he knocked on the door during the Argentina game "Sorry mate, I don't live here".

              2006 Nothing really

1990 - Platt's volley against belgium - and the best thing - Nessun Dorum!!!!

                1994 - Aldo going mental

1998 - Michael Owen vs Argentina

2002 - at uni also - so was able to do silly things like go the local at 6am

2006 - Zidanes headbutt - one of the greatest players i've ever seen, going mental

Some memories of 82 - but I was only 7, so My first WC would be:

                  1986.

                  - My Panini Sticker Album.
                  - Strachans goal and celbrationv West Germany.
                  - Maradona being awesome.

                  1990.
                  - Scotland losing to Costa Rica. (As did Sweden) then beating Sweden - almost getting a draw against Brazil Mo Johnston missing a sitter.
                  - England getting close... Platts volley. But bottling it on pens.
                  - Gazza

                  1994
                  - Worst World Cup Final Ever.
                  - Diana Ross Missed Pen.
                  - Escobar

                  1998
                  - Tom Boyd own goal antching defeat from the jaws of... a draw in the opening fixture.
                  - John Collins Pen.
                  - Michael Owens Goal
                  - Beckhams red.

                  2002 - 2014

                  Meh.

1978 is the first World Cup I remember

The thing that sticks in my mind about that World Cup is the Argentina V Holland final match and Archie MacPhersons commentary on Scotland V Peru "Cubillas!! Ah ****"
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
