Personally I think the Premier League should treat this like the African Cup Of Nations

Keep the domestic league and cup schedules as they would normally be at that time of year and allow clubs to release players for the World Cup as they see fit.

For that season only allow teams that are the most affected to have larger squads (say 40 players instead of 25) so they can field teams while the World Cup is going on.

FIFA probably won't like it... but as it's their complete incompetence that's created this situation in the first place then tough

What I do think will happen is that the leagues (and the clubs) will negotiate hard / pursue FIFA for large amounts of compensation for the disruption caused
No there is too much money in it and those countries risk putting themselves out on a limb. The best thing that could happen is that the European countries get together and say that no-one from UEFA/Europe is going, because a world Cup without the European teams would be **** and would have a huge impact on advertising revenue etc and viewing figures would drop significantly (hitting them where it hurts), then set up a rival association and invite the other nations to join.

      Unfortunately it will never happen...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

World cup 2026 will be in the United States. I'd put my house on it.

Was Barrack seen approaching Sepp with a large brown envelope?

Fox sports have dropped their objection to moving the Qatar competition to the winter (they'd previously claimed breach of contract), at the same time they've signed an expensive extention until 2026.

It never ends does it. As long as the money keeps coming the decisions will always be made this way.

They cant do it, part of the FIFA constitution is a blackout of all domestic competitions during their World Cup plus 1 week before and after

So to do this they would have to leave FIFA and its governance, which wouldnt be a bad idea if they actually had the balls to do it and some support from the other European leagues

The FBI would have to drop their investigation first

an extension that apparently wasn't put out to tender. FIFA simply offered Fox the chance to bid for the 2026 World Cup rights. None of the other American TV companies got a sniff

Isn't that about the same number as US soldiers who died in Afghanistan?

                            Ahh I didn't know that.

No wonder FIFA acts like it has everybody over a barrel... because they do!

The continental Europeans won't do anything as I think they'll simply move their winter breaks to the period when the World Cup is on.

What's the betting a lot of the corruption that's gone on under Sep Blatter comes out once he's retired like it did with President Chirac of France?

That's probably why he wants another term as head of FIFA

If Platini takes over then I expect it to continue in a similar vein.

I'm convinced he wants another term for that reason. After using "this will be my last term" last time to help him win hes desperate to keep power.

Hes as corrupt as they come and I'm sure once he's gone all the stuff will start to leak out problem being that all his cronies want him to stay in power to protect their sorry arses as well
