why the USA though - does it not seem strange?

Why not UEFA, the EU, UN, Interpol etc etc

Seems very strange everybody is happy for the USA to be the worlds police

UEFA, UN, Interpol etc etc doesn't have the clout or the balls.

US are a bit wanky but in this instance it's helping us so sit back and enjoy.

There are US citizens implicated, and the broadcast rights corruption involved US companies. The witness who has given the crucial evidence is American, was charged in America by the Americans. Seems perfectly reasonable for the Americans to be involved. The investigation into the world cup voting is being conducted by the Swiss authorities and not the Americans.

The American equivalent to the bribery act is really tough and wide ranging. It doesn't matter if an organisation is based in the US, if it has a presence in the US then I can be targeted. I don't see how this is a bad thing really.

There is some agreement that the US Treasury can investigate and have jurisdiction in regards to any transaction paid in US$

It doesnt even have to touch US Banks just be transacted in that currency for them to have jurisdiction
