Not corruption (yet) but WTF? Also have an idea where this award is going...

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We all know where it is going, but it would be funny as if, at the announcement in Washington, they pull a fast one and call out Obama's name. Trump would be apoplectic!

Quite amusing how they pulled the no shirt off as they wanted football out of politics, yet... here we are.

Sooner we get these crusty white men in suits out of the game the better. Sadly most players love playing for their country.

It's the whole grandeur and self importance of trying to step into something that doesn't really concern FIFA to do this type of bull**** that is one of many things that are annoying about FIFA and Infantino

It's quite the achievement to be more of a complete and utter dickhead than Sepp Blatter but Infantino continues to manage that with flying colours

              And from the same thread,

The next step is surely the 'FIFA anti-corruption medal?
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Didn't Trump refuse to return the World Cup trophy or something? Maybe they think if they give him another shiny bauble, he'll let go of the one he is currently clutching. I use the same tactic when I want my cat to drop a toy.

It was the world club cup trophy

I came to bump this very thread rather than post it in General Football. I don't even need to click that link to know what the story is.

It absolutely stinks. He will never serve that ban. He will retire from international football after the world cup. And I bet loads of players from smaller nations are due to miss the first match won't get the same treatment
                      Football without Origi is nothing

Yeah, just saw that, it's bull****, never heard of that being done before, be interesting to know where they see the threshold in terms of appearances for this special treatment.

Clearly because he is a big name player at his last WC and FIFA and others want him there...

Otamendi and Caicedo out for 1st game. I can see some some appeals coming in.

When it happened everyone called it, The fact they are so blatant is shocking/not shocking.

I find the idea that it's related to number of caps offensive,
but if that's the case they need to clarify what the criteria is how many caps before you get an almost free hit

His red card was his first playing for his country and he has 129 caps.

Caicedo's was his first red card for his country also. He has 58 caps.

Hope FIFA letting Ronaldo ignore the rules of the games opens a can a worms for them.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

All governing bodies have realised that they can make it up as they go along with no recourse. Who's going to punish FIFA?
