Re: Lennon.
Haven't heard much too much of him TBH (at least this World Cup), but at least he speaks about the modern game in a relative sense unlike some of the old fogies.
Spending most of the World Cup with RTE, but have caught some of ITV's ridiculous efforts over the last week, not to mention the, now-legendary, England Friendly in Miami/Thunderstorm Extravaganza featuring Ady, Wrighty, Glenn 'Gaffer' Hoddle and Dixo. Think Keane might have at least livened them up a bit, not in the Wrighty-sense, but at least made some cutting scowls, but he's done what he normally does when there's a World Cup.
Whenever I switch on BBC, Cannavaro is sitting there with a disgusted, barely-know-whats-going-on face on him. Seedorf is always good to listen to, Henry is a cheating ******* etc. But BBC are so stuck in the mire as long as Savage, Shearer etc are allowed to babble. That's without even mentioning Phil's bedtime commentary.
RTE are predictably scathing, sometimes unfair (especially on England), and can get stuck in a loop of making ridiculous sermons on why this team and that team are not as good as the team from years back. Their 10min long demonstration of why this Brazil side is not as good as the 1970 side was cringe-worthy. But at least you get a laugh, and honest criticism in there which normally wouldn't be faced up to on BBC/ITV and most certainly Sky.
Lads like Didi, and Ardilles show up now and then to give a different viewpoint on things, but they are more or less balanced out by muppets like Kenny Cunningham, Houghton and Whelan talking absolute ****e. Nothing is ever good enough for the latter two........Completely negative.
Still though, Dunphy has already said he'll be in a dress if England get to the QF, and Richie Sadlier (ex-Millwall) when pressed on Hodgson's famous inspirational approach to management replied........."He couldn't inspire you to cross the road"."I will make the boys feel your support"

I saw Whelan the other day

He's some bleedin' eejit alright.
Now imagine that happening on a regular basis with frequent jibes in there about Liverpool, even in matches we're not involved in. That's Ronnie all over. Not enough to annoy you, but when you've just spent the last 90mins listening to co-commentator, Ray 'Never Done Anything Wrong' Houghton, talking crap, it's a different story.
TV lineup tonight across the three channels doesn't inspire much confidence either
Not mad about Patrick Viera either, now that I think about it.RTE Two

It was worse, he never shut up, he just continued talking. We can see the game with our ****ing eyes, commentators should just enhance the experience with the minimal of input. This constant drivel is so infuriating.Originally posted by Tee View PostIt was like listening to paint dry.

Punditry should be kept to a minimum. Start the ****ing coverage 5 mins before matches, cut it at half time and start again 30 seconds before restarting. At the end of the match, give them 5 mins to summarise things, then sack them all off.
Football has become a big bubble really. A bubble the size of Christiano Ronaldo's ego.Are we winning?
