I didn't catch the commentary unfortunately (or fortunately) - are you sure you're not all bashing him just because of his Everton/United past?

The newspapers are full of it too. And it was discussed on national radio. And it trended on social media.

So I guess the criticism is fairly widespread and universal.
      Oh I don't know.

Have a look on Twitter and it's pretty much a universal reaction on his boringness.

He was decent as a pundit yesterday. Notably tried to sound more animated which was quite funny, but he was more than okay - and of course a step up on Shearer, Savage et al.

Hahaha, I noticed that as well. What a muppet, but then he would switch off for a second and the dullness would re-emerge before he realised and freshened it up again.

BIG difference being a pundit and being a co-commentator. The BBC seem to be letting all their studio pundits have a crack though. The hardest thing to get right is the balance between the main commentator and the co-commentator. You will never please all of the people. Personally I like the studio pundit to provide in depth discussion and the co-commentator to say little but just to interject with the odd comment and occasional witty remark. Not to bore the pants off me going off about stuff I have no interest in, I have my own eyes to see the match with, I have the commentator to read out the names of who is passing and to react to the match itself. The BBC have followed the same route on snooker, letting all the ex pros have a crack. Awful.

Lawro is the perfect co-commentator. Its where he should stay.
