I'm well chuffed for Fernando - back to his boyhood team and 2 goals in a derby! He must be buzzing!

Atletico are a great side, Simeone has done a fantastic job since he's been there

It's difficult not to be happy for him this evening. I hope this move works out for him and he finds his love for the game again.

Yeah I love the way Real & Barca keep splurging huge sums of money on whomever is the best in the world... but Athletico still challenge them. Love it

I know what you're saying, but Barca just beat them very comprehensively on the weekend. And it's not like they're doing it on a shoestring budget, Atleti spent over 100m in additions this summer. Obviously they lost players but there was heavy investment in proven quality like Griezmann and Mandukic who don't come cheap.

No doubt that Simeone has been exceptional, finally giving this team a backbone. They've had some decent squads over the years but never had self belief.

What Sevilla and Valencia have been doing for season after season is probably more admirable managing to be consistent top 5, Valencia mainly 3rd on almost no money after selling best players. Now they have investment and are also splashing huge sums again but excluding the last 2 seasons they've been in the CL most recent seasons which is pretty impressive after losing Albiol, Villa, Silva, Mata, Joaquin, Manuel Fernandes, Alba etc.

To be fair to Athletico they get raided every year and constantly lose this best players, hard to build momentum. They spent 100 million but net spent was only 29 million, although I hate that net spent argument so your right there. They are a selling club much like us I suppose & constantly have to go into the transfer market to find adequate replacements. This year is the most they've ever spent & the difference between us and them is that they just simply buy better than us.

I do get your point about Sevilla and Valencia, it is very admirable but what Athletico & Simeone have and are doing is nothing short of miraculous. Real Madrid and Barca are probably the two biggest and best clubs in the world, they can easily splurge 60 or 70 million on a few players without even blinking... and thats adding to an already world class squad. Almost seems unfair. Simeone seems to find a perfect balance and his teams have such a good togetherness and work ethic. Outstanding manager thats not working off a show string budget but considering what he's up against... it's some achievement what they are doing. I love the fact they challenge Barca and Real & would be fantastic if they could go on and win the league again.

                    Love a good underdog story

Atletico vs Barca tonight in the Copa del Rey Semis.

Can't see a Barca win as convincing as last time around - fancy Atleti to get something from this.

Silly red card from Ronaldo the other night, misses the games against Sociedad (Moyes will be chuffed ), Sevilla and Atletico.

I thought it was only going to be a 1 game ban as the ref did not think it was violent conduct.

Also Barca scoring six with no Suarez, that won't help him.
