Barcelona star Gerard Pique could be banned for as much as 12 matches after telling an assistant referee “I s*** on your w**** mother”.
Pique was dismissed after 55 minutes of Barcelona’s 1-1 draw in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao, which Barca lost 5-1 on aggregate. The centre-back was unhappy with the assistant’s failure to flag for offside and reacted angrily.

When we were on holidays in Spain in June I saw a fight at the doors of a Lidl. Well not a fight - just a load of verbals from a guy shouting in at the butcher counter and whose friend was buying in to the whole "hold me back" vibe. Anyway, the guy was going ballistic and I could only hear his end of it and all I could hear him say over and over again was "puta" and "madre". I was struck by the awful paucity of insults available to the poor fella who was getting more and more red in the face, sweating profusely and shouting louder and louder but was left pathetically shouting the same thing over and over again. Do Spanish-speaking people not see this coming? If things get a bit tense, you know someone is going to immediately go for your mam so why bother either doing it or reacting to it? Suggesting ****ting on someone's mother is a nice touch but still not wholly original. Spanish needs to sort this out.
