I think with us reverting to three at the back, Rodgers may have believed Johnson's experience, aerial ability and positional sense would have been more suitable to acting as our third centre back.

If we're going to 3 at the back we should go with 3 centre backs rather than playing Johnson as the third. It seems a half and half measure which just confuses things.

True. I'm not sure if we set up that way to counter Newcastle or if this is Rodgers' plan until Sturridge returns ... I guess time will tell.

Similarities with his counterpart tonight, Arbeloa, how he plays the game. He didn't have a great game tonight but he's clearly going to become a very good fullback.
