I'd take him on a 1 year deal actually. Our style of play would suit him, he'd score goals, and importantly he's a proven winner.

I'd still want another striker in too though.

A lot of negativity in social media about possiblity of signing him but I too think that 1-year deal would not be so bad for us, if we cannot sign a better alternative.

Proven goal scorer at the highest level and if he can stay fit he can certainly step in if needed.

Samuel Eto'o (33) still has a few hours to accept the proposal that Ajax did to him after the meeting in Paris. The former striker include FC Barcelona, Internazionale and Chelsea would Amsterdammers initially show Sunday whether he wants to play for Ajax, but suggested that decision still a day out.

Yesterday management announced Eto'o even that it could take days before there is clarity. But not according to Marc Overmars. "The deadline is 18:00 am today," let it be known football affairs director. If Eto'o need more time or say 'no', then switches by Ajax to plan B.

A fairly woeful story on the Express site about us going back for Eto'o "according to reports". Not quite sure where these reports are as they seem to be the only paper reporting we're 'back in for him'.

Samuel Eto’o is believed to be having a medical at Liverpool, according to reports.

The free agent, released by Chelsea at the end of last season, has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent days despite the Reds’ £16m move for AC Milan’s Mario Balotelli.

And it appears despite late interest from Merseyside rivals Everton, the 33-year-old has opted to join Brendan Rodgers’ men on a one-year deal.

According to Goal.com, Eto’o is having a medical outside of the UK today and if all goes to plan, a deal could be in place over the weekend and could boost Sunderland’s hopes of landing Fabio Borini.

Meanwhile, Balotelli is said to have arrived at Melwood as he prepares to agree personal terms with the Reds ahead of his move from Serie A.
