Was linked with us on TS this morning. What do we think? Funnily enough I said to my brother on Sunday that he would be a good one year signing for either us or Arsenal.

My initial thought was "ugh" but he should score loads with the number of chances we make.

I think he'd be a better fit for us than Chelsea due to our playing style, but I do echo some of the concerns about his wages, we don't want to disrupt the squad.

I'd take him on a 1 year deal actually. Our style of play would suit him, he'd score goals, and importantly he's a proven winner.

I'd still want another striker in too though.

Just double checked and he still managed better than a goal every three games for Chelsea last season (12 goals in 34 games). And 6 assists. Not bad.

What I don't get is how ex superstar players like this continue to expect mega money even as they slide into mediocrity. It's different when someone declines within a megabucks contract like Torres but in Eto'o's case what right does he have to demand more than what he's actually worth?

I'm sure I read that he turned down west ham because their offer was below £40,000 a week (the horror).

If that's the competition then I don't think we'd have to splash out massive wages.

I don't see a problem with giving him a one year deal with an option for a second based on performances, and obviously depending on Origi's development over the next year.

No he wouldn't as it would be offset by no transfer fee being paid for him.

Eto'o played 1298 minutes (14.4 games) for Chelsea last season scoring 9 goals. That works out to be 144 minutes per goal or 1 in 1.6 games. Simply put the man has a knack of scoring goals and he's proved this over the past 12 or so seasons. There isn't much options out there available so I would rather a season of Eto's for just wages (than spend big on the wrong option) and be ready to pounce on a big signing either before the window closes or in January.

Falcao is just too risky for my liking. Class player but it's easy to forget the seriousness of his injury. We still don't know whether he will be the same player he was pre injury. I also think it's ludicrous to even consider paying close to £30m to have him for just one season. I like Cavani too but it was only last season he went for £55m and is also on extremely high wages. I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we could get him on the cheap. He'd also want to play central and I personally think Sturridge has done more than enough to be the main man down the middle.

He was world class in his pomp and his experience will be invaluable; still got a fair bit of pace about him, so he'll be able to lead the line well when in case Sturridge needs a break or is injured. He's the ideal type of player we need in that position and he'll suit out game much more than the **** Chelsea offered last season.

Would rather have Falcao but a front line of Eto'o, Sturridge and Lambert is still fairly potent in addition to the other attacking threats we have.
