If we can't sign the big player we were looking for I'm fine with having him as a stop gap. Rather a place holder than a panic buy.

Simply put the man has a knack of scoring goals and he's proved this over the past 12 or so seasons. There isn't much options out there available so I would rather a season of Eto's for just wages (than spend big on the wrong option) and be ready to pounce on a big signing either before the window closes or in January.

Falcao is just too risky for my liking. Class player but it's easy to forget the seriousness of his injury. We still don't know whether he will be the same player he was pre injury. I also think it's ludicrous to even consider paying close to £30m to have him for just one season. I like Cavani too but it was only last season he went for £55m and is also on extremely high wages. I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we could get him on the cheap. He'd also want to play central and I personally think Sturridge has done more than enough to be the main man down the middle.
I was against it until I read this

Must admit I thought him a bit of a damp squib last season but I didn't watch Chelsea if I could avoid it

        Thems some good stats though
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Eto'o doesn't have pace anymore at times last season he looked painfully slow. Chelsea would rather keep Torres and resign the 49 year old Drogba than keep Eto'o. In later years all he has been about is the money and looking for another payday, about 7 or 8 years ago he was the best striker on the planet, he's not even a shadow of that player anymore. Ridiculous that we've got to this stage of the season and we're looking at panic buys on a free

Exactly what I was thinking Fierce/Carras. Was distinctly unimpressed but the stats are very good - and considering Chelsea's style of play vs ours, I've come around (within about 3 posts) to thinking I might fancy him for a season. No homo.

Considering the lack of top quality strikers around and available, I'd take him on a year deal. He wouldn't start, but would be a rotational player that if Sturridge (God forbid) got injured would be more likely to do a job than Lambert.

Of course I'd rather get a younger and much better striker in for long term, but there's not many around at the moment that I think would suit us.

With a week to the season starts and having Sturridge & Lambert as the only strikers on the books, how can anyone be against signing someone with the experience of Eto? If he'd come for 100K, pay it and lets have him for a season. Its better to have options available rather than the possibility of starting a game without a recognised forward. He would have to convince Rodgers he was hungry enough and willing.

i dont think this is a bad one year option.. i watched this with a view to how he would slot into our free flowing, fluid attacking system, as opposed to the stinking, negative ****e that Mourinho advovcates... I think he's a decent option in a difficult marketplace....

Is Eto'o at this stage of his career better than Borini? Not even close for me, one is a hungry young player with something to prove and the other is a mercenary after another payday who couldn't give a ****

For what it's worth I'd have him for this season while we monitor the development of Origi. Has proven goal scoring credentials and could bring a bit of much needed experience in the highest echelons of the game.

It's a poxy market at the moment, wouldn't be overawed with the prospect of Eto'O but we do need another body. What a shame Eto'O is such a greedy *******. The guy was incredible & it seems he just decided somewhere along the line that football was going on the back burner and he'd rather add to his millions.

He is a shadow of the player he once was but he will get you a few goals alright. If he is fit and the wages aren't exorbitant, could be a decent option.
