Malky Mackay text claims: Iain Moody leaves Crystal Palace
By David Ornstein
BBC Sport
Iain Moody has resigned as Crystal Palace sporting director.
It follows allegations about racist, sexist and homophobic texts shared with his former colleague Malky Mackay.
The pair were sacked by Cardiff City last season and the Welsh club sent a dossier to the Football Association alleging misconduct.
"In light of the events, Iain Moody has tendered his resignation and it has been accepted with immediate effect," read a Crystal Palace statement.
Here are some of the text messages alleged to have been shared by Moody and Mackay:
"He's a snake, a gay snake. Not to be trusted." Referring to an official at another club.
"Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering." Referring to a list of potential signings.
"Go on, fat Phil. Nothing like a Jew that sees money slipping through his fingers." On football agent Phil Smith.
The claims, reported in the Daily Mail, have already ended Mackay's chances of becoming Palace's new boss.
Mackay, 42, had been the favourite to take over at Selhurst Park.
It would have been Mackay's first managerial role since his dismissal by Cardiff in December.
Moody, Mackay's head of recruitment at Cardiff, was sacked two months prior to that and later joined the Palace staff under Tony Pulis.
I still wouldn't trust much of what comes out of Cardiff. Amazing that they went public with these texts so long after they apparently happened and right when it timed with the judgement on the team sheet saga
Can imagine they're both going to be heavily punished.

It will be difficult to punish them for private communication without having to step in a punish Scudamore. Both were instances of private communication not public opinion
But then the FA are hardly known for being uniform about matters

Just out of curiosity, if they are texts between the two how is it they have been obtained by anyone else?
This is why I am reluctant to trust Cardiff. Presumably if they were club issued phones and the text messages were on them then it would have come to light sooner.
