It was only a couple of minutes and in that time I remember making an important interception at a corner. Maybe im wrong and that was before? Either way nobody on here was screaming at him for being lazy.

I'm not defending Mario, I didn't want to sign him and I hope he's sold at the end of the season. Doesn't mean I have to accept every decision by the manager is the right one. I have no agenda other than wanting Liverpool to win stuff.

I don't hate him. I think he's handled this season very badly though and I don't like way he has handled the Mario signing at all.

Why ridiculous? We've seen that Mario has buckled down and improved after previous criticism. I'm not a big fan of public statements like this but Rodgers has done it consistently and the players in the squad seem to a) respond and b) respect him.

He's basically told him "great you scored you need to keep working" not a fan myself but the overreacting in this thread is comical.

I just think it's not a good thing to criticise or try to motivate a player in that way gving his nature. Especially before what is arguably our biggest game of the season in terms of CL qualification, and we need him on top form.

But this approach has been the one that Rodgers has taken from the beginning and we have seen marked improvements in the way Balotelli fits in with what we are trying to do as a team. It seems an act of unfounded projection to assume that because we don't like the tone of the comments that they have a negative impact on Balotelli.

It's obvious Mario has an intimidating personality, it's no act it's how he is, it's like everything he does is done off the basis of one instant thought that enters his head at the time, and once it's entered....he's gonna carry it out.

You know, as did Jordan Henderson; that if you get into a childish argument with him, then Mario wont be standing down, and is likely to push what was a trivial situation to the max, and way over where it needed to go.

On the other side, he can be the life of the party, every ones mate, a superb player capable of great things.

Managing that is the trick.
