The Title Race 2014/15

I guess this thread could flit between the general and LFC sections, depending on how well we are performing, along with the ebbs and flows of the league season, but I'll stick it here for now.

Based on 3 games, which is nowhere enough to form an informed opinion (so the debate in this thread will fit in perfectly with the rest of the site), I think Chelsea are clear favourites to win the league, with City second, and us third.

I haven't seen enough of our rivals to see anything to rival us for the top 3. Yet.

If we can keep our heads down, an overachievement might be on the cards from LFC's perspective, but even being the 3rd best team in the league right now is a massive step up from just two years ago.

I do think Chelsea have that bit too much for the rest though. They have sold very well, and bought very well.

United won't be anywhere near the title race this season. They're already 7 points off the top. But they may sneak into the top 4 if they get their act together asap. And I'm not sure that they will.

They are much better equipped this season and now with Remy coming in they have an option if Costa gets injured.

Everton/United and Spurs scrapping out for Europa but not getting anywhere near the top 4

I think we are closer to winning the title than any of those teams below are to catching us.

A fair assessment of how the league looks at the moment, I'd say we're 3rd favourites behind Chelsea and City.

Chelsea do look like they should win it this season but it's certainly not a forgone conclusion.

I thought that Man City were excellent against us on Monday, but they were poor yesterday. Similarly Chelsea have been excellent so far but Everton aside (and that was a freakish game) they have played against teams who have/will struggle. I think it is too early to judge how good or bad anyone is. The issue isn't necessarily about the results teams get when they play well, it's about the results they get in difficult games and we haven't really seen that for most of the top sides.

I like how the expectation is on Chelsea and Manchester City. As long as we can find the balance between European and domestic football and we continue under the radar, I think we can push them all the way. If we're in touching distance around Easter, anything is possible.

Same 3 teams as last season going for it. Not sure who's a favourite, annoying Chelsea's only problem last season was beating utter **** which should be easily rectified though I'll be amazed if they do the double over us and City again.

The other 2 should be favs with what they spend but I dunno, we've just got this ridiculous desire to succeed and a hell of a lot of quality.

Would hope we are in the mix. Looks hopeful but a lot of new players and we have the CL. It is Brendon's first season of juggling the two. Also we have lost a huge asset so its hard to tell. Fingers crossed though.

We've essentially transformed from squad who had a very strong XI and nothing to back it up to a squad capable of competing on all fronts. For that reason, with the amount of changes we've had to make I'd be delighted with 3rd place! For me getting back into the CL and stabilising is vital.

As for the title, Chelsea for me.

Chelsea look good right now but they've played nobody of note and the first decent team they faced exposed issues at the back so I wouldn't have them outright favourites just yet. It's between them and City though. CL again has to be our aim, anything else is a bonus.
