Why? This suits us.

We don't play Spurs again, so even if we win tomorrow and next week, they are only 1 point behind us and still fancying their chances after winning at Old Trafford.

A United win means we are 2 ahead of them and at least 4 ahead of Spurs once we stuff United.

TBH, I don't think any result makes that much difference here.

A win for the mancs now means that anything other than a win vs. Swansea would see us lose ground against the 4th placed team. Plus they've bolstered their goal difference.

After being bounced out of the cup by Arsenal, a defeat today could have sent them into free-fall in the league, and I'd rather be battling against an 'in-form' Spurs team in the final stretch than an 'in-form' manc team.
