Tony Pulis loses £3.7m Crystal Palace court battle

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has lost a £3.7m High Court battle with former club Crystal Palace.

A Premier League Managers' Arbitration Tribunal ruled earlier this year Pulis should pay £3.7m damages to the club in a dispute about the way he left at the start of the 2014-15 season

Palace bosses said Pulis told them he was committed to the club but left two days after getting a £2m bonus.

Pulis, 56, denied deceiving them into paying the bonus.

He challenged the order in the High Court but a judge ruled against him.

Details of the case have emerged in a written ruling published by Sir Michael Burton on Monday.
      Oh I don't know.

I'm really not a fan of Pulis but what sort of numpties are running Palace - surely the paperwork covering the bonus would have dealt with this sort of scenario?

I think it did hence the court case. Nothing paperwork does if someone takes money early and then ****s off.

This is what pisses most people off with football - too much ****ing money and only in it for themselves - it's so corrupt.

Well it does if it specifies what will happen in this type of scenario. It's the sort of thing I've written into lots of agreements albeit not one for a couple of £million. Agreement gets written and Pulis agrees it in full knowledge of the consequences if he breaks it. Clearly those consequences weren't specified making Palace look a bit amateurish and Pulis a greedy ****.

Apparently he persuaded them to pay the bonus early, i.e. before it was due, and told them he was staying as way of persuasion. Got the money and then ****ed off.

Was it Pulis that quit to move north to be closer to family then took a job in London again?
