Two years ago that would have been 20m to Liverpool and we'd be wondering what the **** we'd spent the money on ! Probably a lucky swerve in this case.

Benfica sold Gaitan to Atletico Madrid and replaced him with Andrija Zivkovic FOR FREE - guess who we'll be buying for 25m in two years

I must be getting old as I've not heard of half these players. Exciting times indeed!

Benfica, Porto & Sporting are sensational at replacing their players. They are a cattle market, but they certainly know how to pick a player.

Don't forget they get a lot of players via third parties, particularly Porto & Doyen for young South Americans. Some of the deals work v well for them Falcao, James R, Hulk etc where they get the benefit of the player and make some money on him but the third parties make a killing particularly if he goes the shady route to Russia or to the current nouveau riche club (Monaco, City, PSG etc).

Added to that they have great academies and are always producing top players - current crop includes:

                      Porto: Neves
Benfica: Gonçalo Guedes, just sold Sanches
                      Sporting: W Carvalho, João Mário

Some of the sales from them recently:

In Portugal they can buy young players from the likes of Brazil and play them straight away. We buy Allan and we cant play him due to dinosaur rules. This is the only difference

Great news if true, that would weaken their defence badly.
