The thing with Mik is that we came close to getting him a few years ago and then he tore it up at BVB so him going to United hurts. The fee and salary for a guy with one year on his contract is out of our league but if he repeats his form then he'll be worth it - goals from midfield are a precious commodity!

You know he will be compared to Mane now (in terms of their numbers) but Bobby didn't do too bad vs Depay

I'd cite Mane's Premier League experience but class players don't need time to adjust.

Miki didn't hit the ground running at Dortmund though, his first season was a mixed bag and he didn't like Klopp's playing style. He'll probably be a hit but it's by no means certain.

You know I thought that it took him time to settle but in his first year and it was something I looked at recently again but he actually got 9 goals & 10 assists in the BL (17/12 in all comps) in his first year and was voted onto their team of the season.

His second year he got injured (as did most of the team!) and only got 5 goals & 5 assists in 30 games so it was a poor one all right.

Last season he tore it up, 11 goals and 15 assists in the BL and 19/24 in all comps.

The numbers suggest that he was actually successful from the start.
