Best of luck to him wherever he goes, he's not as bad as this season suggests but he is a calamity waiting to happen and is blessed he has played beside one of the GOATS ,who has covered for him and guided him over the last few years. We need better than Konate, who although a specimen and good 1 vs 1 CB is poor technically, poor in possession, bit brainless and not quick off the mark.

I'm not too fussed about him leaving, although the timing isn't great and the fact it is for nothing is jarring. On his day he is a great defender and almost unbeatable, the problem is those games are few and far between and there are probably more game costing **** ups from his brain farts. I am however concerned about the lack of experience (VVD aside) that we have at CB now, an established partnership would have been a good foundation to go into the season with and then we could have brought in Jacquet and/or Leoni more slowly. It is a lot of money, and Alonso apparently was crucial. I'd predict money had a say too. Anyway, he's a good player but that seems steep to me.

I do wonder if we regret not getting Alonso in by the end of the season. If we do the one's to be annoyed about won't be here anyway.

Alonso has a far better pedigree than Iraola.Whether he can turn the Chelsea clown show around is another matter. Bu he has won a trophy with a weaker team against the mighty Bayern. He was also at Real with a team full of ****bags, and failed which is similar to what he is facing at Chelsea. Regardless, we all know he is a decent thoughtful guy. Im sure that is attractive to some players.

Many beliiive Alsono was the wrong fit for us. Im not so sure, but regardless of everything else., Iraola seems to have the right style and personality for us.

All of the players we are connected with didnt cost £100m before they went to their current clubs. All we have to do is drop a tier down and use the analytics to predict who might be a good player. Its a risk either way, but we can get a good player at less than half what Barcola would cost, a player who has only ever player in the French League which is totally dominated by the club he is currently at. Any munchkin can point to him and say he would be a good signing. We are paying hundreds of thousands of pound to analysts who are pointing to the sky and saying "blue". Surely they can summon up a bit more imagination?
