I was watching Wilshere play for England last night and I could imagine Rodgers trying something similar with Kovacic. My issue is that you can do certain things in International / European football which you just can't get away with in the Premier League.

It would be an incredibly brave decision to stick Kovacic in a midfield 3 let alone as a deep lying playmaker in a holding role.

All things being said, most of us have zero belief we will sign anyone who is top quality, so at least if we do get this lad we can at least be happy with one good signing, even if I've no idea how he'd fit in.

Kovacic would be played on the left side of a 1-2 middle three or the left flank of a diamond, or right wing back.

Admittedly he's no Fabian Delph but I think Milner can be effective there.
