    Some of them seem to barely be preserving forward momentum as they come very close to stopping, obviously it's a difficult call for a referee to determine, call me old fashioned but I don't like the idea of almost stopping to try and see which way the keeper is going to go before deciding where to put the pen, the odds are in favour of the taker anyway and I think this is making it even more difficult for the keepers. And I think that this was the reason that so many of the penalties yesterday the keepers were barely moving for.
    The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

      Isn't the rule for keeper at the moment that they can only step forward once the ball is struck? Are they wanting to go back to the point where the keeper has to stay on his line even when the ball is struck?

      Again the current rules for keepers aren't really enforced properly either, I think that in general the refereeing in penalty shootouts isn't really enforcing the rules.

      Obviously it would be a fairly brave decision for a referee to order a penalty to be retaken in a shootout at the end of a CL final because of an infringement such as these by either the taker or the keeper, but the start of a new season seems an appropriate time to clamp down.
