Nah, all the extra cash will go on wages for the few elite players at the top clubs and everyone else will get buttons.

Its no wonder the players union is challenging the transfer system

Players could always buy out their contract if they want to move. Or they couldrefuse to sign 5 year deals.

If it means stopping the big clubs from hoarding quality players then so be it. And if that means spreading the quality throughout Europe, and not just throughout the top leagues, even better.

There would be no incentive for smaller clubs to develop players if they were not going to be compensated with a future transfer fee. Players would still naturally gravitate to larger clubs and without transfer fees the wages they could offer would double at least

Of course there's incentive, clubs will always develop players, they'll just be able to keep them if that goes through, instead of having to sell them.

If a big club comes knocking at the door of a player of - lets say a League 1 club - and offers then 5x the wage they are earning and the chance to play for one of the biggest teams in the country...

It happens now with transfer fees. Without them and 10x the wage and rules in place to make it easier for players to move there is no way they are going to be able to keep them.

yeah but theres talk of restricting squad sizes as well so no matter the wage chest, if there's only so much players that a club can have at one point, the rest will have to play for "lesser" clubs and therefor the strength of those lesser clubs should increase.

I could see a bypass to that by creating B or amateur sides which are separate entities, instead of U19 and reserves though.
