    Foreign/Non UK/Overseas Footie

    Thanks to BT Sport and not having Sky, I've managed to squeeze in a fair amount of live football recently that has not involved English stuff. For a fair while now I've seen my enjoyment of British football, the long time bastion of energetic, frantic, physical power slowly dissolve as the money and over enthusiastic refereeing has killed the game I loved and grew up on. The lack of real quality on show despite the millions spent is evidenced by the poor displays our supposed elite serve up on champions league nights. Anyway back to the subject in hand, foreign footie. It's always been more technical, less entertaining with more theatritics and plenty of defensive stalwarts on hand to keep the scores down. But its changed, or is continuing to evolve.

    I've recently watched the following, almost back to back on occasions;

    A league action in Australia. I watched two whole games uninterrupted for the first time ever. Yes the skill level is not great, but it was entertaining. Hard tackles, dirty studs up tackles, fast paced counter attacking, old school crowd chants. If I lived there, I would go for sure.

    Plenty of German games I've seen recently, the crowds are large and noisy. The action is on the whole very good. It's getting close to how our league was 15 years ago.

    French league, I must admit I can't watch a whole game. It's not great.

    Brazilian football, I really enjoyed last night's game. The crowd noise was unreal. Constant noise throughout. The skill on show at times was brilliant.

    Italian football is definitely a better spectacle than previously.

    There's plenty more but I've run out of time. Got to shoot off. D

    The lack of atmosphere at English matches is the biggest thing for me. Whilst the cost remains high it will never return.

    A League is very good fun. I don't get to watch it much but the highlights are always good entertainment.

    French league is dire. I watched Monaco vs Marseille and it was total dog****. In fact it reminded me of Rodgers worst displays but on both sides.
    Was muß, das muß.

      Brazilian football is fantastic. Not the quality obviously as the very best are in Europe by age 11 but the crowds are incredible. The noise and atmosphere is second to none. Once you've experienced it, it's hard to even imagine anything like it in England

        The atmosphere for Corinthians was brilliant. When the camera panned to the crowd, they looked like right hard nutjobs!

              Opted for the latter and it was dire.

              Right I've had enough football plus the wife is nagging. Strictly results and downton beckon.
