I don't think Roman will want to lose a player to us, so I think this is very unlikely to end well for us. Pleased to be targeting quality, although this haggling bit is getting a bit old.

Starting to worry we're not going to get him now. The kind of "you start high, I'll start low, we'll meet in the middle" negotiation only tends to work if you have a willing buyer negotiating with a willing seller. If they don't really want to sell then it's down to us to make them an offer that they can't refuse. If they've set an asking price of 50m euros then offering 30m euros isn't going to tempt them.

If we really have identified him as our "perfect solution" to our goalscoring issues, as some reports have said, then we should go back in quickly somewhere closer to their £38m asking price, before a drawn-out negotiation starts to encourage others to bid.

I was excited until I heard it was Shakhtar. Then I went along with it in hope rather than expectation. Personally I think we should walk away just as we should always walk away from any player connected to Aidy Ward.

If we're looking to spend big money there are enough players out there. (That's a question rather than a statement).
