Why does that make much difference from a relegated team playing in the UEFA cup? The CL formated is already diluted, so it isn't exclusively for Champions.

Hypothetically if it did go ahead (which it won't) I imagine runners up would get a UEFA cup spot and 4th place get in the CL, similarly to how if league cup winners are already in Europe, the place goes back to the league and not the runners up.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'm just thinking back to when I was a child and I can remember replays of finals and they didn't pay them at Wembley either did they. Madness!
The final replays where at Wembley but they didn't have the same guest of honour that was the original final,I can still remember the villa goal v city that was a replay. And the mancs v Brighton was also a Wembley replay.
      who's arsed?

Personally I think Champions should get a bye to the knockout stages of the CL. In fact the whole CL should be a knockout cup and drawn at random.

It's currently geared toward glamour and money hence the league format which can spit out the ****e teams quickly.

I hope this nonsense idea of wildcards dies on its arse.

Bring back a Champions only Champions League. Obviously we've benefitted in the past, but I've never quite liked a league for Champions being full of teams that finished 3rd or 4th.
              Money wins out, of course.

Yeah the old days were best. The cream of Europe fighting for the best trophy. It'd make the uefa cup better too, more prize money and better clubs in it. And bring back the cup winners cup while we are at it.

Its not the cream of Europe though.

The champions of Finland aren't better than Madrid, it may have worked in the past but it would be **** now. People complain about 1 and 2 horse leagues, that's not far off what would be created but on the European stage.. The groups would be dire.

There wouldn't be any groups. Straight knockout I'd have. Fair point on the cream of Europe but I'd still only have the champion's in it. The best teams will still get to the later stages and the early stages would be far less tedious than the current group stage because there's a genuine chance of an upset in a one off game. The whole thing currently is falsely engineered so that the same teams get to the later stages year after year. Those who don't get to be champion's are in the other competition which instantly improves that too. No group stage in the CL equals less weekdays used up for meaningless **** group games so more days free to move the uefa cup away from Thursdays and back to Wednesdays. Sponsors would be more arsed with it too so the wealth would be distributed more equally across then two competitions rather than the current situation of be in the CL or be ****ed.

Aye, that was mental. Better than the drag it on forever over as many weeks as poss we have now tho.
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.
