It was a bit predictable watching the 20-30 minutes, Dier took too many shots IMO, Rooney was also guilty of trying to run through players too many times and the crosses from right seemed a bit too easy to defend against. I would have kept Lallana on, him and Sturridge seem to be best bets against a packed defence.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostAll the ball no idea what to do with it, too many cooks etc.* The above is posted in my opinion. That's a fair point too. That would likely be a very painful game to watch.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostIF (unlikely) Iceland manages to win Austria and finish second, I reckon they will defend very deep and very compact against England.

FA unsettled by Roy Hodgson’s risky team selection against Slovakia.
Officials feel wholesale changes were an unnecessary gamble that jeopardised England’s chances and may have damaged the manager’s long-term standing.

Are the FA only now getting unsettled? Have they not been paying attention.
FWIW I dont think the changes were a bad thing. Those that came in (except maybe Wilshire, and he is off the pace because he hasn't really played football for 2 years) did well.
The more concerning thing is that we have had 64 shots at this tournament and only scored 3. Couldn't beat the poorest side in the competition either.*Except Michael, who died.

I thought the criticism of the changes was odd,if he can rotate he should, the games are coming thick and fast, two of those changes were also those that many wanted, with Vardy and Sturridge coming in. I'd probably kept Rooney in the team though but I think this is harsh, he deserves a lot of flak but I can see why he made the changes, and the team was no worse than against Russia or the first half against Wales.Originally posted by Alex View PostAre the FA only now getting unsettled? No they're not, there is a whole week between the Slovakia game and the first knock out game. But yes, I don't think the subs really made a huge difference, id he's sticking with his struggling 4-3-3 then the only glaringly ****ing stupid one was playing Jack Wiltshire.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI thought the criticism of the changes was odd,if he can rotate he should, the games are coming thick and fast, two of those changes were also those that many wanted, with Vardy and Sturridge coming in. Why the loyalty to Wilshere though? Would have thought Drinkwater would have been a better option, and of course Rooney of Milner against Slovakia.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I think I heard somewhere that Wilshere has played more games for England than Arsenal in the calendar year, there is no way he's match fit, bit weird. But yeah, I guess that's true about Hodgson. He bought Poulsen on those grounds IIRC.Originally posted by Alex View PostHodgson seems to trust players who have performed for him in the past. Wilshire was the safer option I guess.
Having said that Drinkwater was good last season. He won the league FFS
