To be honest, football players shouldn't even be banned from placing bets. As long as they don't throw a game, then there shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with your point about the fact that it is wrong to over market gambling. I just think that the FA shouldn't be policing that. Should come from government of the country.

The FA are also sponsered by the likes of McDonalds and Carlsberg....... yet also get funding from government for promoting grass-root football / sport.

I dabble a little bit with very small wagers - more to make football (non-LFC games) a little bit interesting. I use the martin gale system but go up in steps of £2 and have a pot of over 2k built up now (not going to get rich, but not going to lose anything either). Having looked at the Barton wagers in a little bit more detail last night, i find his betting patterns totally crazy. He would put on £3 on something and then the next bet would be something like £650!!! No sense in it at all to be honest....
