    FOR ****ING ****S SAKE.

Everyone knows mistakes can be made. That's why they get the chance to review the decision with the benefit of a ****ing video ****ing replay So they don't have to make that mistake with one viewing at full speed.

It’s utterly baffling how they’ve refused to use the automated tech that was used in the World Cup.

It’s instant and much better than the lines they draw. Why wouldn’t they use it just as a supplementary measure if nothing else?

I think we need to keep VAR but by Christ we need competent people to use it. Staggering.

Turkeys voting for Xmas I guess. Lessens the need for loads of incompetent fools being overpaid for something they're not very good at.

It also provides a larger surface for bias/corruption to enter the process.

14 of the clubs voted against it, can't hang that one against PGMOL unfortunately.

Any indication what the resistance was over?
                Hello mert.

I think the best thing that comes from this is that this VAR bunker and on-field Refs comms are made available to some oversight entity.

Ideally it's all made public but I don't think that'll happen.

Why we're expecting Refs to also perform VAR duties is mindboggling too - there'll be a load of unfit people that couldn't run around a PL pitch for 90 minutes but could easily be trained with the rules and the tech.

It would also help immensely if they were two seperate teams and not so ****ing pally pally.

Finally - moonlighting should be banned and if that means PL needs to pay the officials more then so be it.

That’s not enough. This was a systemic failure, failure of a system to perform its primary task. When that happens, the system has to be revised. Helping people understand why the system failed is useless really.

If you don't understand why the system / process failed, you can't fix it.

Unless you're talking about the wider public rather than those who are responsible for it? And even then, I think there is a more than fair case for transparency even if it results in complete humiliation for those involved (and well, we've already gone past that point haven't we).
                      Oh I don't know.

I'd be extremely surprised if we got a replay. If the ref or VAR team were proven to be on the take then yeah sure but otherwise, it's just a **** up and that's part of football as far as they're concerned.

I meant the latter. More transparency of a broken system isn’t the end goal is what I’m getting at.

I disagree. Full transparency should be the order of the day.

A fully functional system should of course be the starting point, but either way, the murkiness of the decision making currently is not acceptable.

                              Apparently;

"Chief executives across the organisation's clubs are said to believe that the technology may date too quickly for it to prove a difference-maker."
