I rate him highly also. Our Andy only got going in the second half of the season though.

I'd argue that Firmino had a better season than Aguero.

Otamendi is laughable, one of the Burnley CBs should be in there.

Alonso deserves his place. If Robertson had played like this from day one then I'd say he'd deserve it.

Otamendi has had a couple of bad games usually against us, but most CB have bad games against us, he is a pretty permanent fixture in the center of their defence and they have the best defence in the Lg. I think the perception of him and the reality are two different things.

You can obviously make a case for Bobby but equally the striker with the 3rd highest goals on 20 plus is no stretch to be in there either. Personally I have no issues with that team. I may have put in Bobby also but everything else looks solid. At the end of the day its a game of opinions, I would imagine Robbo and Bobby were in the running for both positions , but not too shabby for a guy in a relegation team to go from that to just being pipped at the post for the PFA vote for that position. Bobby will get it next year

Eriksen and Kane is probably okay, they've both had a very good season. In general it's hard to point to any CB for team of the year this time around, not sure it's Vertongen, but equally not enterily sure who it is then?

Aguero, great player but he's totally pissed away the prime of his career at a nothing club.

He should be talked about in the same terms as Messi and Ronaldo.

It's something to be a ball playing CB in a team that dominates the ball, that's erm, relatively easy. Which is why Mascherano could be deployed there for Barca. But as an actual defender having to defend, Otamendi is gash and it's not just us that has exploited that... Bristol City and others have.

I fully expect City to buy another CB in the summer as it's City's achilles in the same way GK was the summer before. **** knows how many 30-50m CBs they'll go through until they get one that can defend though.

Otamendi is a shocking CB, absolute liability. I wonder will Pep look to put Stones beside Laporte... or maybe just go out and spend another 60 or 70m. Knowing Pep and City, probably the latter. What's another 70,80,90,100m when you are working with a blank cheque. Delighted we knocked them out.

As for team of the year, harsh Firmino didn't get in but I suppose they are looking at goalscorers per say for the front 3 and Aguero has done that this season. Vertonghen has been outstanding this season to be fair & not many good RB & LB so Alonso & Walker are decent shouts even though I do not rate Walker at all. So apart from Otamendi it's not a bad selection, always going to be some arguments against any team selected though.

Was interesting on that Sky Sports Debate show

Both Steve McMahon and Craig Bellamy said the side the PFA picked was all over the gaff and had no balance. Basically just picking the most attacking players and trying to fit them in the 11

Both of them picked different players than the PFA list

                      Bellamy picked -
                      Ederson in goal,
                      Tarkowski (instead of Otamendi)
                      Davies (instead of Alonso)
                      Fernandinho (instead of Eriksen)
                      Sane (instead of Aguero)

                      McMahon picked -
                      Van Dijk (instead of Otamendi)
                      Robertson (instead of Alonso)
                      Fernandinho (instead of Eriksen)
                      Sterling (instead of Aguero)

Van Dijk would've been in there had he signed for us in the Summer I have no doubt.

The fact that he essentially went on holiday for 4 months before signing for us means he shouldn't be in the team.

Otamendi, as bad as he was last season has actually been solid this year. I don't see who else gets in the team ahead of him tbh.

But each person who nominates isnt trying to put together a team to win a game is he? Its just the player they think it best in a certain position?

Id have had Tarkowski in there, probably Sterling too. Although he seems to need the team to be playing well around him feeding him the chances to do well. So who knows.

Would consider Davies alright myself as he has been so solid, very similar to Robbo in that respect but played more games. Sane has been brilliant aswell. Ederson quality this season but I don't think anyone could begrudge De Gea... **** knows how many points he has saved United this season.. blessed they are that he is still with them.

It's really hard to whittle it down to the 11, some players like Mo, Silva, Kane and KDB just simply stand out but others can be very tricky and up for debate.

These teams never have balance, they basically seem to be the top scorers in each position and the fall back seems to be the best English player in that position (although that doesn't apply to many players this year with the possible exception of Walker), and players almost exclusively come from the top 6.

The front 3 are the top 3 scorers in the league, Eriksson is one of the top scoring midfielders, Alonso probably same at LB.

The thing I would like to know is who decides on the formation, is that decided in advance or do they change it based on which players get the most votes?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Who gives a **** about balance though, they don't have to play a game. Just pick the best players in every position - arsed about balance
