@SkyKaveh: 1/3 Diego Godin's agent approached Manchester United this week when the team was in Cagliari, saying the player was keen to come to Old Trafford and a deal could be done, so United made an offer for the agent to take to the Atletico board.
@Skykaveh: 2/3 Within hours, Godin had signed a new contract on improved terms at Atletico Madrid (€7.5m net).
@Skykaveh: 3/3 Whilst José Mourinho would have been keen to sign the defender, the manager believes that the desire on the agent's part was always to leverage the situation to get a new contract for Godin.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

From what I understand...Originally posted by shanks69 View PostDon't a lot of countries that have national service let sports stars off with it if they are in a different country as they see it as feather in their cap to have a star overseas,or let them serve it when they retire or do something stupid like serve a couple days.

South Korea are one of the strictest nations for the way they manage their military service. from what I have read it's incredibly hard to get away from. You can only avoid if if you have won an Olympic medal or for footballers if you win the Asian Games (which is a rule they introduced more recently).
Most famous Korean footballers haven't had to worry their military service because they Korea won Bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games, with most of their famous players being in that team, but unfortunately Son wasn't in the squad.
Normally the better Korean players can avoid the issue if they did their schooling in Korea and can then play for the University sides who play in the K League while doing their service which doesn't derail their careers too much, but because he didn't finish school in Korea he can't even do that.
There is a huge chance that if they don't win the upcoming Asian Games he will have to either lose his citizenship in Korea or not play any high level professional football for the duration of his service.
I also believe that the reason why this is becoming so serious now is because you have to complete military service by a certain age which he is approaching. So while it is unlikely he doesn't find one of the loopholes, there is a reasonable chance he might have to leave Spurs to solve the problem.96 Never Forgotten
