Newcastle needing to hold on to a 1-1 for over 30 minutes against Wolves, only to lose to a 95th minute goal. Gutted for them. Rafa was in full fume about the red when it happened.
Unfortunate, but on the replay I think I agree with the ref, it was a ref as the covering player would not have stopped the striker getting his shot away. In this case VAR would not have helped Rafa.

I agree on the whole, more just saying it sucks to lose that way.
Although wasn't Rafa's point about how VAR would have helped that Yedlin had been fouled by Jota immediately before he ended up being penalised?

Possibly, I only saw it on MOTD and that was the part they looked at.
Still, my understanding of VAR is that it can only be used for offsides, penalty incidents and mistaken id, so if the ref had deemed the previous "foul" as legal, then VAR would not look into it?
