It's ok but they don't cope with the change of pace as you say.

Seeing as they are having webcams in viewers' houses they should point a machine learning djinn on it and teach it to recognise the fans faces for certain situations, then instantly react with the appropriate crowd noise. Finally an appropriate use for this witchcraft technology.

Made a simple balls-up is more likely OK, but that's VAR's biggest ****up to date, and again, its how the system is used as oposed to a failure to detect such things.

I guess the more worrying aspect would be that the system was working, and that it just didn't register the ball in the keeper's hands.
That's a far bigger issue than just a simple switch or setup in the wrong.
